Jewelry has adorned the human body for tens of thousands of years. The first known pieces were fish vertebrae necklaces found in a grave in Monaco, dating from before 18,000 BC.  Shells were also widely used in the Stone Age.

Other early traces of jewelry are found in the Near East between Iran and the Mediterranean dating from 3000 to 400 BC. Simple stone amulets, stars, floral designs, and spiral patterns probably had religious meaning.

Indigenous people today have long histories of jewelry making from their own cultures and we present these wonderful pieces from our partner Novica. Have a look at the pieces from the Andes, Brazil, India, Mexico, and Thailand. You are sure to find that perfect gift.
